Aaron Alexander Smyth
b. 1992. Irish artist based in Glasgow.
Aaron Alexander Smyth is an Irish interdisciplinary artist whose work explores the floodplains of identity formation through semiotic riddling within contemporary sociological and digital landscapes. Aaron’s practice seeks to reveal alternative perspectives on belonging, entanglement, and the human condition by employing fictioning and materiality to bridge referential imagery, postcolonial theory, and lived experience, reflecting on our shared mythologies, contradictions, and truths.
‘My work often sits at the confluence of two competing realities, where yours might collapse into mine, where storytelling becomes fact and symbols erode towards new meaning. This is something I trace back to my Irish identity, its history and social relationship to these ideas and truths.’
